"Touch of spirit", a new original game by EcmaSoft Ltd., may be considered a sort of a puzzle.
The point of the game is that the player finds and picks the items, specified and assigned in the task. The action takes place in 3D environment and follows a detailed plot.
The game begins with the welcome screen with selection of a new game or resume previous.
Then the short instructions are given to let player understand the plot and tasks for next location. The task contains a list of items, their quantity and the time in which player has to find them.
On location screen the camera view is framed by small fields, in which the essential info is displayed - the remaining time, hint, selected item and the number of picked items.
The plot is based on the mystical and romantic story of the young man, Jester. He dared to fall in love with the Queen, and she answered his feelings. But the Black Warlock, who was the main counselor of the Queen and dreamed of occupying the throne, became furious and stole the Jester’s soul, and turned his body into stone. He also placed the Queen's castle in the infinite Space, where the Dark reigns and the Time has no power. But the Good Angel appears.
The soul of the Angel once belonged to a very beautiful girl who refused to become the Warlock’s lover and, subsequently, help him in his evil deeds. The Good Angel wants to help Jester to find his way back to his loved one and to reunite their lives.
Now Jester's soul should make its' way through the strange and mysterious environment, finding magic items (in limited time)
to help Angel guide him through the locations towards the Queen.
The time for each level is usually limited by 2-2.5 minutes. Every picked item adds time.
One more pleasant feature is available - the tutorial explaining the basics of the game.
Each location has not only pickable, but a load of inactive items, too. So the player should read the task before start.
Every location has 2 levels, with different tasks and items. On every location 2 hints are available, each showing one of the pickable items.
Controls are simple and handy - zoom with usual iPhone method and change camera view tapping the side of the game scene.
Each location has several points of view to make playing comfortable and show all the details of finely created environment.
The items are selected by tapping them, and then double-tap the item field to pick it up.
The environment deserves a special mention. Modelling and especially visualisation are simply outstanding. The scenery really helps to immerse in the very atmosphere of the game, delicate and surrealistic. The lighting is adjusted to maintain the magic view of the fairy-tale, both in indoor scenes and in open space locations. Original materials and textures make 3D scenes impressively detailed for iPhone games scene. The beautiful view is supported with sound effects, attached to actions like picking item, changing camera position etc.
